Maybe you have visited Philadelphia Baptist a few times, or perhaps you have been attending for years…but now you feel that God wants you to take that next step in following Him. Whatever that step is, we are here to help.
We are excited and humbled that you would choose to attend and see what this Christian life is all about at our church. We do not take lightly this, and we hope that you would feel comfortable asking questions and exploring the amazing possibilities of what your next steps or a new life in Jesus could be.
Choosing the right steps are important to follow Jesus, and below is a guide that will help you get started on the right foot and continue on your incredible spiritual journey. Our steps are rooted in the mission statement of our church and student ministry,
“Loving God, Loving Others, and Showing others, God’s Love.”
The steps are:
Is it time to get started on your new life journey, or is it finally time to take that next step? You will find help with these steps in greater detail below.
We believe one of your first steps is to “Begin” to see your great need for Jesus. We hope that you will explore and experience the truth of God’s Word for yourself, hear other people’s testimonies about what God has done for them, and decide to move forward in becoming God’s son or daughter.
Where would be an excellent place to start? Here are a few suggestions:
In step two, three essential aspects must be accomplished before taking your next step:
A. SALVATION B. BAPTISM C. WORSHIP
Have you indeed decided to follow Jesus?
The Bible contains both good news and bad news. First, let’s look at the bad news.
We are all sinners.
Romans 3:23 tells us, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” We have all come short of God’s standard of perfection.
The penalty for sin is death.
Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death…” What we earn from our sin is death. We deserve to die and be separated from God forever.
But here is the good news:
Christ died for you.
Romans 5:8 tells us, “But God demonstrates His love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” The Bible says Jesus took the penalty that we deserved for sin, placed it upon Himself, and died in our place.
You can have a life.
Romans 10:9 says, “If you confess with your mouth, ’Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Here is our last significant step in what we believe will help you to become an entirely faithful follower of Jesus. This step is where we learn how to bring the Gospel to the people around us and the rest of the world. God wants to use you and the gifts that He has given you to impact other’s lives for all eternity. Here are the essential characteristics of this step:
A. Evangelism B. Missions C. Serving
Knowing how to share the Gospel is one of the essential characteristics of a follower of Jesus. But not only should we know, but we need to be intentional in sharing. Here are some opportunities that we offer at Philadelphia:
