Preschool Ministries of Philadelphia Baptist Church
Director: Pam Keith
Our volunteer staff of
teachers, leaders, and paid care givers at Philadelphia Baptist Church are
dedicated to providing a safe and happy environment in which your preschooler
can learn and grow. We believe teaching preschoolers and serving children is a
privilege. The experiences that they have here in our preschool ministry are
important building blocks for their faith, and can pay lifelong dividends to
both the child and his/her family. It is the mission of our Preschool Ministry
to share the love and care of Jesus Christ in a meaningful and effective way to
your preschooler.
Preschool Ministry Highlights...
Partnering With Parents
Our preschool ministry is
co-operatively run by loving and trained volunteers. After families have made
the decision to make PBC their church home, it is expected that parents of our
preschoolers join in this ministry and serve at least once a month in our
Parent Rotation. Parents are asked to go through our volunteer screening and
application process and placed on our volunteer schedule. The success and
growth of our preschool ministry is dependent upon faithful, loving volunteers.
Sunday School in Discovery
Zone
At PBC we offer Sunday
School for all ages and believe it is important to start teaching children at
the earliest of age about the love and care of the Savior. It is the desire of
the staff of PBC that the teachers and leaders are trained and use age
appropriate methods to share the love of Jesus with even our youngest little
ones. Through age-appropriate Bible stories, songs and activities, our
preschoolers learn of our Savior’s love.
Sunday Nights in Discovery
Zone
On Sunday evening we provide
childcare for preschoolers beginning at 5:00. Preschoolers age three to
kindergarten go to preschool choir. At 6:00 preschoolers age three to
kindergarten go to TeamKid in Room E 101. All other preschoolers are cared for in
their appropriate classes in the preschool area.
Wednesday Nights in
Discovery Zone
On Wednesday nights we have
something for all preschoolers. Preschoolers who are three before the first of
September, go to Cubbies, a program of AWANA. Another AWANA program for two
year olds is Puggles. Both of these meet on Wednesday nights at 6:00.
Wellness Policies
Preschoolers who show signs of illness, such as high temperature, should be kept at home. According to the Committee on Control of Infectious Diseases of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a child should not be taken from home when any of the following exists, or if they have had symptoms of the following within the previous 24 hours:
-
Fever
-
Vomiting and/or diarrhea
-
Any of the symptoms of the usual childhood diseases—scarlet fever, measles, mumps, chickenpox, and whooping cough.
-
Common cold—from the onset through one week (green or yellow nasal discharge)
-
Croup
-
Any unexplained rash
-
Any skin infections (boils, ringworm, impetigo)
-
Pink Eye or other infections
-
Thrush
Whenever there is doubt, ask yourself, "Would I want another child with these symptoms to be with my child?"
Our teachers will not give preschoolers medication. If necessary parents may return to the department to administer medication.
If your child becomes ill while in Discovery Zone, you will be notified immediately to come for your child.
